Why Are Some People Obese?

Recently I had an opportunity to visit few slimming and fitness centers. There were a quite a good number of persons who had come there to reduce their weights. Many exercises were being taught there. Varieties of machines were being used. Some rigorous exercises were also being practiced. Some of them were muscle builders. I observed that there was no effort of the individual to burn the fat. Machines were doing the job.

These days almost each well to do person or capitalist is buying a car. It has also become a fashion (or passion) to go for a walk in their cars. They go a long distance in their cars and park some where near a garden or sea shore. Then they walk for few minutes and again drive their cars to return home.

Is it possible to walk in a car? There are number of employees who go to their working area in the morning and come late night. All the time they sit in front of a computer doing programming. Their brain is more active than body. They take untimely food. Even educationists, scientists and authors come under this category except they sit in libraries or laboratories. Also their food habits are normal which keep them alert. Ladies or Home makers spend most of their time witnessing TV films or ’serials. The cookers, grinders, mixers do their work. More sedentary (sitting much) work is observed. All such practices have caused many to become obese.

A person does not require as many calories to maintain his weight as he needed in his youth. And also we know that the extra food eaten gets deposited as fat: So if you don’t decrease your caloric intake as you age you are likely to gain weight. If people at 40 of their age continue to eat the same quantity and do the same activities when they were in youth or 20 years old they naturally gain weight, because the body metabolism or bio-chemical action does slow down with age.

First off I would like to say that someone can feel over-weight and not be over-weight. The way to determine this is by the body mass index some know this as BMI. This BMI chart was created to show people who are on the low end of the spectrum for the height and weight are just as dangerous and susceptible to death as those individuals on the high end of the BMI chart. In fact, many studies show that being anorexic produces the same body responses to an individual classed as morbidly obese.

I felt it necessary to clarify body mass index is a reference point for an individual to determine if the weight they are at is real or an illusion. Perception does play a large part in the self image a person hold of them. If other people look and say your are overweight then your perception would be in alignment to the truth.

How often have you seen or heard someone say he or she is fat and you do not agree? Insecurities play a large part in this illusion, if he or she grew up in a household where one or more parent was overweight this same individual maybe very rigid with his or her weight. Fear of looking like the mother or father had made them be very hard on themselves. The data available today shows a correlation of insecurities in a man or women do affect his or her psyche.

Many individuals try different ways of managing weight loss or weight gain.? Many family members intervene and make it a point to allow the person dealing with the eating disorder to know they care and are supportive of them getting help.? Often times the person who has the eating disorder feels that if everyone just left them alone and minded their own business everything would be okay.? This lie is all to common in addiction as long as the individual continues to blame others for why things are the way they are the addiction continues to thrive.

If after reading this article he or she finds themselves recognizing their perception is off and he or she is ready to get better and start living a full and productive life. Please feel free to contact me so an eating disorder assessment can be done. Based on the assessment will determine which level of care is needed. I look forward to hearing from you.
