|Obese Help | How I lost 137 pounds!
Posted by admin in Prescription Obesity Drugs on June 14th, 2009
My story and some valuable information to start getting obese help.
I lost 137 pounds 37 years ago. There have been great discoveries about this subject since then. Today, we have an eating system or plan that is state-of- the-art for losing weight the healthy way. Back then, there were not the health facts that we have today. It is this writer’s hope that everyone who is serious about healthy weight loss will be able to find the right system or plan for them. I hope this will start them on the right path of healthy weight loss.
Since I came from a family of educators, I started my research by answering five questions (who, what, when, why & how). By doing so, I was able to lose the weight. I now know, by reading the new facts, that my old research was about 70% on the right track and that is why it worked. Back then, I had to work a little harder and longer than I would have had to do today. I will talk about some of my experience and the new facts. I will not be able to cover all of the necessary information, but I will give other www links at the end of the article.
We don’t have to be experts to know when we are too heavy for our own good. Our having too much body fat can lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and arthritis according to webMD. In 1999, our Surgeon General reported that, in addition to the above conditions, breathing problems, some types of cancer and psychological disorders (such as depression) can result from overweight or obesity in people. The Surgeon General reported that in the year 2000, the economic cost of obesity was $117 billion. Each year all of the above numbers keep going up.
WHO are some of the best candidates for weight-loss and a healthy body mass index? Those of us who have larger waist sizes are most at risk for obesity and poor health. Let’s be rational about this: The main cause of obesity & overweight bodies is that we are a mass of people who LOVES to eat. Remember, there is a direct correlation between fat, especially saturated fat, and caloric intake.
WHAT is the key? Making the switch to a new mind set about your way of life. We really cannot go on a diet, we have one and it is either good or bad for us. I changed my whole way of LIVING to lose my weight and living a healthy life is what it is about. I changed from more calories and less activity to ingesting less calories and more activity. CHOOSE TO MAKE THE SWITCH IN YOUR WHOLE BEING. I kept healthy snacks on hand to chew on while watching television and/or between meal hunger pangs.
WHEN is the best time to begin this new life? My best time to start was and is right now. I made a cognitive decision not to cheat. I know that what I am going to say is going to be corny. But, WHEN I committed to this plan, I began truly ‘to live like I was dieing.’ It’s a lot like our computers: Trash in - Trash out.
WHEN is the best time to assess what you have been doing? For me, I would weigh and calculate my (Body Mass Index) (weight (pounds)/height (inches) 2) x 703 every Monday. For me, Monday was best; it kept me from bingeing on the weekend. This was really hard to commit to because all week I would have to “save up” so to speak because I knew that come Monday, uh oh, weigh in. Since you know yourself better than anyone else, you are free to choose.
HOW to begin is one thing that’s simple: It is within each individual’s heart and mind. Once that hurdle is reached, all others are a matter of practice. Simply put, we need to live a more active life. I adopted the following motto: Never lay when you can sit; never sit when you can stand, never stand when you can walk and never walk when you can run. Now, one of my specific considerations was a history of excruciating low-back pain. After having consulted with my physical therapists, together we had to measure and adjust to what my limitation was. Each person has to take his/her specific circumstances into consideration. Within limits, one should opt for a more active lifestyle.
WHY I made the choice to live a healthy life was I had a lot longer to live. I did not want to be unhealthy for the rest of my life. Once we know the why the how becomes easy. We need to get a strong why to become healthy again and the how will become clear. There is a plan for us and it will work if we work it.
