Are Other People a Barrier to You Losing Weight?
Posted by admin in Prescription Obesity Drugs on July 19th, 2009
If you have ever tried losing weight, then you know it can
be very challenging. It takes a lot of willpower and motivation
to stick to a weight loss program. It actually is one of the most
challenging tasks that a person can undertake. However, success has
wonderful rewards.
One of the issues that many people have when losing weight is that
other people get in the way of their goals. If you do not have the
support of the people whom surround you, you may be setting yourself
up for failure.
As long as you are operating on your own terms, you are fine.
You have stocked your fridge and cupboards with healthy low fat foods.
You are in a habit of preparing and eating healthy food choices.
then, disaster strikes. You are invited to eat out with friends,
or you know a party is coming up. You begin to feel like you may
lose control. After all, how can you be expected to not indulge
when everyone else is?
The truth of the matter is that you can stray from your diet about
once per week in order to reward yourself, and still find yourself
losing weight. However, some people find themselves in situations
several times per week, or even more, where they are tempted to eat
high calorie, high fat foods.
One thing you can do to help yourself stay on track is to let everyone
know that you are on a diet and that you want to lose weight.
Be honest, and people should respect you for it. Then, they may be less
likely to encourage your to stray from your goals.
You may find that it is difficult to pick out a salad or a meal with
grilled chicken and veggies over all the other tasty choices on the menu.
However, just keep in mind, that once you order a sensible meal,
you will be happier in the long run. Plus, you will probably enjoy it.
It all comes down to making the sensible choice when faced with a
load of high fat, high calorie options.
The salad bar can be a great choice, just remember that there are dangers
lurking there. Salad dressings can be loaded with fat and calories.
In addition, the cheese can also be a barrier to losing weight.
Raw veggies minus the dressing are a great choice. You may even be lucky
enough to find a low fat or fat free dressing that you can partake of.
Look at the portion sizes when you are in a restaurant. Often, they way
exceed what is acceptable for a person to eat in one sitting. If this is
the case, have your server pack up half of the meal right away so that you
can take it home, or even give it to someone else. Water or unsweetened tea
are good beverage choices. Avoid tea sweetened with sugar, or soft drinks.
Alcohol is also something that should be avoided.
If you try to make sensible choices, going out to eat can be successful
for you and you continue with your goal of losing weight. The more you
eat out, the more careful you need to be of your food choices.
Just keep your weight loss goals in mind, and make sure everyone
around you is aware of them.
