Is Weighing Yourself Ruining Your Life?
Posted by admin in Prescription Obesity Drugs on July 13th, 2009
When you are focusing on losing weight the temptation is to jump on the scales every day to see how you are doing. That works just fine when the weight is coming off just as you want it to.
BUT our bodies are not machines - they are not predictable and sometimes it will take a little longer for the scales to reflect your hard work
These weighing rules will help you to remove the emotion from this fraught moment of the day.
1. Each time you weigh yourself, wear the same clothes.
2. Ensure the scales remain in the same place each time you weigh yourself.
3. Use the same scales each time you weigh yourself.
4. Your weight can fluctuate by as much as 8 pounds throughout the day so weigh yourself at the same time of day, ideally first thing in the morning when you have an empty stomach, bladder and bowels.
5. Only weigh yourself once a week as your body will fluctuate throughout the week - especially for women during their monthly cycle.
6. Remember that if you are carrying out extra exercise, you may increase your muscle mass, which weighs more than fat so you may reach a point where your weight remains the same or even increases although you may look more toned.
7. Weigh yourself in kilos as you are unlikely to have an emotional reaction to your weight in KGs.
8. Use a tape measure instead - remember your body is not a machine and if the scales tell you nothing has changed it might just be that your body has changed shape!
