When many people begin a new diet, the weight loss they experience within
If you have ever been on a diet where you are steadily losing weight,
the first few weeks is encouraging. They may even begin thin they have
finally found a diet that will give them the results that they have been
desiring for years. However, more often than not, this is only a short
lived success for many.
and then all of the sudden you stop, you know how frustrating it can be.
If this has happened to you, then you have experienced the weight loss
plateau. This is due to your body making adjustments.
Many diets will shock your body into losing weight at first. This is
exciting and encouraging at first, but then things can change. Within
a few weeks, your body can adjust to the diet and is no longer reacting
in a favorable manner. In other words, you stop losing weight at the
rate that you were at first. This can be very discouraging.
The key is to figure out how to continue to lose weight, no matter what
stage of the diet your happen to be in. If you are a calorie counter,
it is time to change your way of thinking. The fact is that, at first,
if you restrict your calories, your body will react in a manner that
will cause you to lose weight. However, after a period of time, your
metabolic rate will slow to the point that you will no longer
burn fat and lose weight.
The key to making your body become a fat burning machine is to make
sure that your metabolic rate stays at a high. The way to do that
is to eat five or six small meals throughout the day, as part of
your diet, instead of three regular meals as most people normally do.
This will help your metabolism kick into high gear.
Keep in mind that while you are eating more frequently, you are not
really eating that much more. Also, you need to be mindful and aware
of the foods that you choose to eat. If you eat high fat, high calorie
foods five to six times per day, then you will not be giving yourself
the advantage. Instead, you must choose your food wisely and sensibly
when you diet. In addition, some regular exercise will also
help you lose weight more quickly.
The truth of the matter is that exercise is really essential to a
healthy lifestyle. If you want to lose weight and keep it off,
then making exercise part of your daily routine is the best choice.
This will help you avoid the dreaded weight loss plateau.
When it comes to choosing the exercise you should do, it can be
as simple as taking a brisk walk around your neighborhood for
thirty minutes. If you have a bicycle, maybe you can ride it to
give yourself some variety. You can also do water aerobics, hiking,
jogging, running or even join a gym. Whatever you choose,
you can be sure that it will add to your successful weight loss.
