Obesity is a problem that cannot be solved overnight. Although this problem seems to be understated by people, the danger behind an obesity condition is not something anyone could ignore. Cardiovascular disease, hypertension, lung disease, endocrine disorder, osteoarthritis, and not to mention psychological problem regarding body image and self esteem that would reduce productivity in life itself are potential danger in obesity. The procedure itself could be classified through three categories:

Malabsorptive Procedure, The procedure are focused in inducing malabsorption in gestational systems by shortening the path or redirecting food digest path to remove selective nutrition absorption.

Restrictive Procedure, performed reducing the size of stomach itself by applying adjustable gastric band or removing portion of stomach. The later is not recommended as the procedure is irreversible.

Mixed Procedure, applying both of previous procedure.

Contrary to common believe, bariatric surgery is completely safe and common procedure to support weight loss attempt. Recent years statistic shows that the surgery popularity grows 300% from past 5 years. The operation is also proved to reduce mortality rate from obese problems from 40% to 23%. The fact about this surgery that it is not a quick fix. It is only a tool designed for a long term weight loss and some of it have strict program to be followed. The only side effect is dumping syndrome, sick feeling and tendency to vomit that could easily be avoided by following guidelines for short period of times after the surgery.
